Becky Undlin, M.Ed., Licensed Parent Educator

Becky has over 30 years of experience working with children and parents. Since 1980, she has operated a private in-home preschool with a reputation for excellence in the community. She attributes much of her success and satisfaction to the CrabbieMasters Program, which she created in the late 1980’s. She delights in watching children develop confidence, good attitudes, strong relationships with their parents and peers, and readiness for school.

Prior to starting her own school, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and then worked as a math and reading teacher. She departed from the public school system to work with younger children. At that time, she had a strong desire for more freedom to implement her own curriculum in a setting where she could continue to focus on education with heightened emphasis on helping children develop positive emotional adjustment.

Over the years, parents and other teachers of the children from Becky’s Preschool have communicated a sense of awe at the results of her program. This led her to pursue a Master’s in Family Education at the University of Minnesota to facilitate sharing her methods with others. Because of her love for working with children daily, she continues to operate Becky’s Preschool. Her activities have expanded to include a parent education series, community outreach on parenting skills, ECFE class offerings, summer programs for parents and children, parenting groups, and parent consultation.

She holds licenses in the State of Minnesota as a teacher and parent educator and is a member of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).

She invites you to contact her with any inquiries. You will immediately hear her enthusiasm for working with children and parents! You will also find that her wealth of knowledge of child development leads to refreshing and effective solutions to parenting challenges.

Jenna Bemis, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist

Jenna Bemis holds a Doctoral Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota and works as a psychologist in Minneapolis.

As Becky’s daughter, she was exposed to the CrabbieMasters Program during her upbringing. Throughout the years of obtaining graduate education in psychology, she rediscovered the amazing nature of the CrabbieMasters Program. While the program had always made sense as a set of fun and practical tools for parents and children, it took on a whole new meaning in the context of studying child development, emotional adjustment (for children, adolescents, and adults), self-esteem, relationship skills, parenting, behavior change, and many other topics of study. In her words:

“Countless times, I would be listening to a lecture from a world expert in child development or researching through top psychology journals and I would be presented with findings and principles that are consistent with what the CrabbieMasters Program offers. Although I already had great respect for [Becky’s] ability to combine her experience and creativity to come up with solutions that work, I was struck by how fully her program accounts for what experts agree are some of the most important concepts in child development.”

Due to truly believing that this is an effective, well-developed approach and her desire to spread awareness of this program, Jenna is now devoting a portion of her professional time for involvement in delivering the CrabbieMasters Program to the public. In her practice activities as a psychologist, she routinely translates the CrabbieMasters principles for managing emotions, attitudes, and behaviors into terms that are more geared towards the needs of adults.

Jenna is available to work with parents and their children. She invites any requests for consultation with other professionals who would like to learn more about working with The Crabbies in clinical settings. Information on her current psychology practice can found at the MidWest Center for Personal and Family Development.

Andrea Undlin, B.S., Master's in Marriage Family Therapy student

Andrea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota and is currently earning her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s University. Andrea is passionate about working with children and families. She has a firm belief that the well-being of children starts with good parent-child relationships.

Andrea was a preschool student during the early years when Becky was launching the CrabbieMasters Program in her own school. As a proud member of the 1st generation of CrabbieMasters, she holds the unique insights of an individual who has never known the world without the concepts of The Crabbies. Children readily learn the principles as she teaches them. She is able to help parents understand the depth of the program because of her personal belief in how well it works. Based on her direct experience combined with her educational background, she effectively works with parents to aid them in implementing our program.
